คำคุณศัพท์

Adjectives หรือคำคุณศัพท์ เป็นคำชนิดหนึ่งในภาษาอังกฤษที่ผู้ใช้งานมักสับสนบ่อยๆ กับคำวิเศษณ์หรือว่าคำ adverbs โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งผู้ที่เริ่มต้นศึกษาหรือเรียนรู้ภาษาอังกฤษใหม่ๆ อย่างไรก็ตาม เป็นการง่ายในการแยกแยะหรือระบุว่าคำใดเป็น คุณศัพท์ หรือ วิเศษณ์ ในกรณีของคำวิเศษณ์ มีหลักการสังเกตและจำง่ายๆ ด้วยการเพิ่ม -ly ต่อท้ายคำคุณศัพท์เข้าไป เช่น เช่น happy มีความสุขเป็นคำ adjective, เมื่อเติม -ly ท้ายคำเข้าไป ก็จะกลายเป็น happily ซึ่งเป็นคำ adverb เป็นต้น นอกจากนี้ คำคุณศัพท์จะต้องตามหลังกริยาพวก Verb to be ให้เราสังเกตได้อีกทางหนึ่ง เพื่อขยายนามก่อนคำกริยาของประโยค เช่น He is a tall man.

เกี่ยวกับสีของบางสิ่ง * Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, black, and white are adjectives because they describe the color of something.
ลักษณะของคน * Tall, short, fat, thin, pretty, and ugly are adjectives that can be used to describe the physical characteristic of a person.
คุณลักษณะของบุคคล * Zany, quirky, vivacious, exuberant, determined, diligent, and adaptable are adjectives because they outline personality traits.
